Rei: hi I'm a professor of linguistics and I'm also 16yo
Yu: I'm a mercenary super hi-tech 16yo working for a secret organization protecting ancient ruins
me: anime logic? But still awesome anime, David production pulling out the big guns on this show
The most ticking thing is that it can be very clearly go with the narrative that Prof Rie is a genius 24 yr old professor at an US university and Ominae is a talented 23-yr old super agent Spriggan with lots of time when not going to college but they went for 16-year old with maturity of 24 years.
Anime logic: young viewers cant relate to the charcters if they arent the same age as them (or the age most weebs range)
The Japanese dont want to take a risk. Maybe there's truth to it, because the anime industry states that the biggest demographic/anime watching audience is 13-18 (which i doubt) so all there characters, have to be either 15 or 16 despite them being the strongest, or brightest or whatever.
obviously anime logic lol
Even better than the original so far. More 90s action seinen need to get this sort of treatment.
If this is supposed to be a Seinen, why exactly are the main characters kids then? The teenage professor that spent the first half of her life in an orphanage. 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
because kids are easier to train and easier to manipulate, and the highest factor is,that they are not tainted with bad thoughts like adults. Even IRL there are kids that are recruited in the army (i mean they get to be trained and at the right age,if there is not any emergency they get to deploy at the age of 18,otherwise they would be deployed even on 16).
Seinen doesn't mean that the main characters are adults or mature, it reference to the target audience, namely young adult males. Think of some of the best seinen of all time: Evangelion, Serial Experiments Lain, Madoka Magica, Shinsekai Yori, Made in Abyss, Code Geass, Parasyte, Sangatsu no Lion, Requiem for the Phantom (IMO), I could go on...all of them feature children as main characters.
I don't have a problem with young main characters but going out of the way to force "adult roles" on young people ruins believability and takes me out of the story. A teenage professor who spent the first half of her life in a random opharnage makes no sense. Except the orphanage was built specifically for geniuses or sumn like that. If you're going to build child prodigies, at least make their background story believable.
I can forgive it in a shounen series, but in a Seinen? What is the point of doing that??
Will Mad Bull 34 fly with today's politically correct world? I'd love to see that! XD
If you don't want him to die just give me the power to destroy the area where he's standing, ok yessir .
Goated 🤩
Based
Jazzed up 90s action is cool!!!!!!

So they can make a powered suit that is nearly impervious to harm but cant make a helmet with the same material ?xD
Good first ep icl
While this is a good reboot and it includes more stuff from the manga, I feel like a lot are being left out especially comparing the opening part with the manga's version.
Really like the animation style though.
hopefully this gets more exposure so that i can read the rest of the manga
Full metal panic vibes.
omigawd I remember watching this a decade ago.
Loving the reboot love we’re getting!
So good wtf
animation and ost are top notch
if she's a professor at 16, then i am emeritus professor. :/
felt like a movie really
Holy shit that was 43 minutes? Since when?
SINCE WHEN!?!
That was 15 minutes, tops! D:
We need more sci-fi anime like this
K boomer
Did anyone else notice, when Yu and the clawman are conversing on the roof top the sound is made to show that yes they are on a rooftop with wind blowing and far apart, thus the voice is muffed.
Never got around to read the manga, but I don't remember the movie being this..."silly" or "comedic" =P
that chase scene on the female professor on the hotel looked like a perfect scene when the army guy is replaced by Nemesis from resident evil.
Not that bad smh
Do I need to watch the movie before this ??
Nope, the movie is separate adaptation and Episode 2 is an adaptation of the same story arc that the movie is based on anyway. The movie is solid though.
Episode 2 is 45 min... The movie is much longer. So does this mean episode 2 is rushed ??
Actually it’s more that the movie added extra material to pad out the story to meet a theatrical runtime. Cause the story arc was only 4 chapters long in the manga.
doesn't seem so. DO watch the movie at some point tho, it slaps
INCREDIBLE 1ST EPISODE 🔥🔥WITH INTERESTING CHARACTERS
